Kevin F. As a parent, we all become active in whatever activities and groups our children are in. I became very interested in the Robotics Team when our son, Collin Freeman first joined in 2014. The excitement and dedication he showed toward the team was infectious. The following year, I became more involved when our other son, Cameron, also joined the team with his brother. I knew then, that even though our boys being seniors in the class of 2015, I wanted to continue my involvement as a mentor. The opportunity that this Team and FIRST as an organization has to offer today’s youth is tremendous. I want to spread the opportunities to other teens so they too can experience it. This year’s team brings a wide variety of talents, and I look forward to working with them.
Ginny F. Having our son Collin join the Robotics team in 2014, I have to admit, I was not familiar with just what it was all about. Not only did I quickly discover all it entailed, but also what great opportunities it offers these students. I was, “HOOKED” from the very first competition we attended. The following year, we had both of our sons, Collin and Cameron, on the team and Kevin and I also jumped in to help Mr. Topping and the team wherever we could. With the boys now graduated, we were afraid our love of the Robotics team would also come to an end. That is not the case, as we have signed on to be Team Mentors. I could not be more excited as I am to see what Team 5234 can accomplish this year.
